DJI and SkyPixel launched its fourth annual aerial video and photo contest in December 2018 which ran until 18 February 2019. With the theme’s challenge described as ‘’The world is a storybook of unrivalled diversity, whose tale is only told by those who are willing to venture out and turn the page.’’ Thousands of members took up the challenge to tell their own story for a change to win amazing prizes.

Deryk Buaumgärtner won the Grand Prize for his stunning aerial photo of Saint Michael’s Mount, an island in Normandy, France. He won camera gear worth $12,090.  Deryk, a German photographer, became interested in aerial photography in 2013 when the DJI Phantom was launched.  The incredible photo of Saint Michael’s Mount is his first entry in the completion and he did not think he stood a chance of winning.  Find more of his work at: Deryk Baumgärtner
