This Weekend’s ‘Ring of Fire’ Dramatically Occurs Same Day As Summer Solstice to Set Stage for An Intense Season

We’re stepping into a rare ‘ring of fire’ (or total solar eclipse) this weekend on June 21, 2020. For centuries, this date has marked the turn of a season from winter blues to the heat of a summer sun. For those in China, Africa, the Middle East, and India, this potent eclipse will be short in duration, yet powerful in its depth. The strong physical qualities call for the use of solar eclipse glasses to protect the retina from harmful rays while the energetic qualities call for spiritual growth and change to progress humanity to the next stage.

What is a solar eclipse?

A solar eclipse occurs when the moon, sun, and Earth are closely aligned. A solar eclipse is the result of the new moon blocking the sun. In this case, the sun can appear like it’s cut in half or reduced to a circular sliver of fire. On the other hand, a lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth casts a shadow on a full moon’s surface.

This weekend’s eclipse is not the only eclipse of the season. We’ll start with the solar eclipse and move into a lunar eclipse in the weeks approaching.

Here is a video from a ring of fire solar eclipse captured last year in Asia.

Following the Path to View Solar Eclipse

With travel restrictions made in place of the current pandemic, those who are not located in the line of path can view the eclipse remotely. However, for those in parts of China, Africa, India, and the Middle East, following the path to view the ‘Ring of Fire’ can be done by keeping track of time and location.

“The path of the annular solar eclipse will start near Charsana in Rajsthan around 10:12 AM and the phase of annularity will begin around 11:49 AM and end at 11:50 AM, Director of the M P Birla Planetarium Debi Prasad Duari said. While the phase is just a total of one minute long, the impact transcends time.

In other parts of the world like Kolkata, the partial eclipse will begin at different times as it moves from Kolkata, Congo, Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia, the Indian Ocean, India, Tibet, China, Taiwan, and meet its end in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. It’s fitting as the Pacific Ocean is surrounded by its own ‘ring of fire’ made up of magma-filled tectonic plates. As above, so below.

Just as the ‘ring of fire’ surrounding the Pacific Ocean’s tectonic plates shift to create and destroy different lands, the ‘ring of fire’ gracing our planet has the potential to burn down old societal structures and introduce a new era of hope, love, and unity.

Connecting to the Spiritual Potency of the ‘Ring of Fire’

solstice spirituality

The new moon in Cancer will block the sun and cause a sliver of fire to embrace the shape of our circular lunar satellite. Where the moon governs our subconscious the sun governs the external self and world. In this situation, our new moon is in Cancer—a water sign governing emotions, empathy, intuition, and sensitivity. As the subconscious energies of the new moon block the external force of the glowing sun, we are positioned in a space to honor our internal desires and responsibilities. In doing so, we can then cultivate stronger boundaries to strengthen our impact in the outer world.

As we find ourselves in an uncomfortable, yet necessary societal stance it is crucial we take time to tend to the inner temple. This month’s solar eclipse brings change and acceleration. Whether or not you are in a location to see the event occur, take time to slow down and feel it through.
