This is Adonis Hill. He’s a 35 year old personal trainer from Brooklyn who started his fitness journey 6 years ago.

After suffering from depression due to a failed business venture when he was 27, Adonis packed on a lot of weight. Once a close friend intervened, he began going for walks and jogs and eventually took up lifting weights. He lost 100 pounds and tightened up.

He keeps things healthy with a strict meal prep plan, ingesting carbs while he’s actively moving throughout the day.

Dinner is usually meat with salad, and he gives himself one sweet, protein packed treat a day: like a Quest Bar or Protein Cookie.

Adonis follows a bodybuilding routine: two muscle groups a day with 20 minutes of cardio after his lifting session is done.

An example of this would be: back and biceps on Monday, shoulders and triceps on Tuesday, chest and abs on Wednesday, etc.

On the A&E show, Fit to Fat to Fit, Adonis ballooned up in size to help his client lose weight.

Adonis ate a lot of disgustingly unhealthy food every day to pack on the pounds: about 6,000 to 7,000 calories worth.

In addition to getting super fat, Adonis’ health quickly deteriorated: he tried gaining more weight but his doctor informed him that his blood pressure was getting dangerously high.

When Hill went back to the grind, he was surprised at just how hard it was. The biggest obstacle? Diet.

Despite putting in a ton of time at the gym Adonis found sticking to a healthy diet was super difficult as he had become addicted to eating junk. It wasn’t until he went on a high-protein, high fat diet and drastically cut sugars and carbs that he began to lose weight.

Adonis and his client, Alyssa, both lost a ton of weight, 57 and 58 pounds respectively.

Now, Hill has gone back to his personal training ways.

His latest project is bringing his fitness journey back to his roots: walking. And it’s a long ass walk: from New York City to California.

He’s doing it to promote walking and “increase access to safe and convenient places to walk and wheelchair roll.” The project’s called, “Adonis Moves America” and he’s started a crowdfunding campaign. Probably to cover the cost of insoles and blister band-aids.

Filmmaker Francesco Paciocco made an awesome film about Adonis’ incredible journey called, The Lift. You can watch it here.
