This is one of those stories that will both horrify you and fill you with hope at the same time. When the people at the International Animal Rescue organization found Budi, a baby orangutan, he was being kept in a chicken cage and being fed nothing but condensed milk.
Due to the tiny space and lack of proper nutrition his body was being gradually destroyed. Upon rescue he was rushed to a rescue center in Ketapang, Indonesia, where doctors feared that it may have been too late. But thankfully the doctors nor Budi were ready to give up. This is what happened:
He sure has come a long way since then, too. Budi can now sit up on his own for short periods of time. It fills my heart with joy to see this image of him after knowing what he has been through.
He can even open his mouth without help, something he couldn’t do when they first found him.
Just too cute! <3
Budi has even started to climb again . Here he is meeting and with playing with another rescued Orangutan for the first time.
It will be a long time before little Budi is ready to be go back into his natural habitat in the wild, but the amazing story of his rescue and amazing recovery is a source of hope for mistreated animals everywhere.
Get well, little friend..
