In days gone by, boomerangs were traditionally used for hunting – they were thrown at prey and returned to the thrower after hitting the target. These days, though, they are mostly used for recreation, and there are even sports events centred around boomerang-throwing.

Sports entertainment channel Dude Perfect partnered up with professional boomerang thrower Logan Broadbent to do what they do best – execute jaw- dropping trick shots involving boomerangs, various targets and, of course, lots of celebration after each shot.

This guy is seriously good with a boomerang. His crazy trick shots have literally blown my mind and after writing this article I am immediately going out and buying myself a boomerang.

Posted on the Dude Perfect YouTube channel is their latest video featuring Logan Broadbent, member of Team USA for the World Boomerang Championship and current reigning champion.

And yes, we said World Boomerang Championship like it’s a thing because it is a thing. Competitors from all over the world gather in one place (although that place changes every two years) to see who in the world can throw a boomerang the best.

And by “best” it’s not just who can throw it so that it comes back again. That’s kid’s stuff. We’re talking who can throw their boomerang the furthest, the most accurately, and of course, who can nail the best trick shots.

Logan is, apparently, very good at nailing those trick shots. He’s able to hit a weather balloon from the far end of Dude Perfect’s massive warehouse studio, able to hit a target from across a football field outside, and able to hit a moving target thrown by one of the Dudebros.

And he can, of course, throw it back to himself and catch it with a backflip. Kid’s stuff.

The USA is apparently a world leader in this whole competitive boomerang business, taking home the golden boomerang in 1981, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1991, 1992, 1994, 2002, 2010, and 2016. The next competition will be held in Albuquerque New Mexico, although they haven’t set a date yet. If you’ve ever seen footage from the previous year’s World Championship, you’ll know that boomerang throwers aren’t exactly, shall we say, driven professionals.

Although they are very good at what they do, and that’s throw boomerangs. Here is the video if you haven’t seen it already:
