We Already Have 6 Planets in Retrograde & Summer Has Barely Even Started

Published

on

On the day of the solstice, the longest day of the year, we experienced a solar eclipse and new moon in Cancer. With a week of summer under our belt, it will be interesting to see how the season unfolds as we find ourselves in the midst of six planets in retrograde. While there is enough to stay informed on in the external arena, these planetary retrogrades offer an opportunity for reflection as we strive for collective harmony and awakening.

1. Pluto Retrograde in Capricorn

Dates: April 25, 2020, to October 4, 2020

The furthest planet from the sun, Pluto is way out there during this specific retrograde. Associated with transformation, we are seeing these changes play out in real-time as old structures crumble to make way for new construction. To apply this in your personal life, connect with the sign of Capricorn. With a reputation of being a workaholic, this sign also can be seen as uptight or relentless. This retrograde may provide insights on how to disconnect from material attachments. Perhaps you’re realizing work doesn’t define you or your identity. Maybe you are connecting with ways in which outdated ideas no longer serve you. When things feel out of reach or too far from the sun remember your force of gravity to stay grounded in the pure desires you wish to see come to life.

2. Saturn Retrograde in Aquarius

Dates: May 10, 2020, to September 29, 2020

Ruler over all things boundaries, structure, and discipline Saturn also represents the notion of time. This planetary retrograde occurs in the sign of Aquarius which governs forward-thinking and progressiveness. As retrogrades provide a sense of slowing down and reassessing, the gift lies in Saturn’s lessons from the past. How can reflections on previous experiences provide insights as to where you are now and where you are headed? If we can take the best from these situations we will always remember to answer our true calling. Everything that has brought you to this space is exactly what will carry you through to the next chapter. How will you decide to use this?

3. Venus Retrograde in Gemini

Dates: May 13, 2020, to June 25, 2020

This retrograde has just come to its completion. However, I decided to keep it on the list due to the shadow phases that typically loom before and after any retrograde season. One way to think about it is when you are speeding up or slowing down a car. To reach the speed you’re going for there is a period in between that requires acceleration or deceleration. This is the same idea when looking at a planet moving from retrograde to direct and vice-versa. The shadow phase is like the rest of the water that is being rung out of the towel. With that being said, Venus is the planet associated with love while Gemini is typically governed by communication. As we exit Venus in retrograde, reflect on any instances where communication in relationships felt misunderstood or unheard. Allow this shadow phase to inspire you to tie up any loose ends. How can you communicate better to your romantic partners, friends, or loved ones in your life? How does this relate to your inner dialogue and relationship toward self-love?

4. Jupiter Retrograde in Capricorn

Dates: May 14, 2020, to September 12, 2020

Planet of expansion and wonder, Jupiter makes an appearance to support our strive in seeking the truth. Now is not the time to turn your cheek. It is time to listen, learn, and continue inner-growth. Occurring in the sign of Capricorn, this retrograde may sting the most in areas of financial security, abundance, and work. On a collective level, we can see this in the current shift in the economy as businesses and employees experience the shackles amidst a global health crisis.

5. Mercury Retrograde in Cancer

Dates: June 17, 2020, to July 12, 2020

Mercury retrograde is by far the most popular retrogrades talked about, covered, stressed over, and embraced. While it is the most popular and often the most potent of retrogrades, its duration is not as long as other planets. Perhaps this is due to the planets orbit and proximity to Earth, however, it is up to the individual to feel which celestial body speaks to them most. As we find ourselves at the start of a heated summer, Mercury’s retrograde can bring us a sense of emotional release. Mercury is all about communication and technology while Cancer governs emotions. Similar to Venus’ retrograde in Gemini, how can this time offer perspective in getting points across. Allow the astrological sign of Cancer to open the heart, lighten the load carried, and wash away what no longer serves your highest good.

6. Neptune Retrograde in Pisces

Dates: June 22, 2020, to November 28, 2020

Neptune and Pisces are like two peas in a pod. Ruler of the sea, Neptune connects with water sign Pisces in a mystical, emotional, and subconscious relationship. Illusions will be made clear and you’ll be faced with seeing reality stripped from the smokescreen. Collectively, we can all relate. When it comes to your personal life and relationships, allow this time to offer insights as to how you view new truths that are coming into your awareness. While emotions can get intense, retrograde reminds us to slow down. In order to heal it, we must feel it.
