They say that growing a thick skin is essential to survive in this world. Being emotionally sensitive is for the faint of heart. This stereotype has led countless people to misunderstand themselves and their inner potential.
These people are the ‘givers’. They take on everyone else’s burdens and ask for nothing in return. They are sensitive to the emotions of others and seem to have no problems in sacrificing their own feelings.
As anyone who has been through this experience, they can surely tell you… they get taken advantage of. The world pays them no mind until they need something. Narcissistic people have always used them to gain their own emotional end. Sounds like a pretty big design flaw, doesn’t it? What people don’t get is that the reason emotional people feel the frustration of being used is because they are disconnected from themselves. They do not understand that their sensitivity can be a source of immense power in their lives.
People often assume that being sensitive is an expression of the feminine. They’re right. What they’re wrong about is to associate the feminine nature with weakness. Sensitivity is an expression of the divine feminine. In Hindu philosophy it is referred to as ‘Shakti’, literally meaning power. The power of being sensitive stems from the power of being honest to yourself and the world. The feminine nature embodied in the mythic ‘Kundalini’inside a person’s soul and uncoils to unleash its true power. Being in touch with your feelings is a source of great security, healing, personal growth and transformation.
The famous feminist writer Anais Nin wrote about this saying:
“You must not fear, hold back, count or be a miser with your thoughts and feelings. It is also true that creation comes from an overflow, so you have to learn to intake, to imbibe, to nourish yourself and not be afraid of fullness. The fullness is like a tidal wave which then carries you, sweeps you into experience and into writing. Permit yourself to flow and overflow, allow for the rise in temperature, all the expansions and intensifications. Something is always born of excess: great art was born of great terrors, great loneliness, great inhibitions, instabilities, and it always balances them.”
That’s why we’re going to list out six ways that prove your sensitivity is your greatest superpower:
Like in martial arts where the senses are honed to perfection, you can train your mind too. As a sensitive person you are sensitive to other peoples’ feelings. Use it well and you can easily figure out when someone means you ill, no matter how they try to hide it.
MANAGE YOUR OWN REALITY
Visualize the ideal state of being for your mind and body and practice achieving it. You can shape your own feelings to heal and recharge yourself.
YOUR PAIN IS YOUR POWER
Have you heard of the quote, “The cure for pain is in the pain,” by Rumi?
Why do you think humanity survived and advanced this far? Because we know that pain signals things that needs to be fixed, no matter if they are physical or psychological. That’s the true sign that something is not right and needs to be addressed right away.
SOAK IN THE JOY
As a sensitive person you need to manage your feelings. You can absorb all the negativity but if you train your mind you can choose to be in a state of true joy by absorbing all the happiness around. You know it’s easier for you to get with the good feelings than anyone else.
OUTER TOUGHNESS IS A PRETENSE
Embrace your own empathy and feelings. There’s no need to pretend to be tough on the outside while you feel like dying on the inside. When your mind is not one with the reality you portray, believe me it will wreak havoc, both in your overall health and positive outcomes of everyday situations.
This is fairly self-explanatory. Righteousness from people who are sensitive carries a special weight. It’s time you recognise how you can touch and change other peoples’ lives for the better.
