Our solar system is littered with millions of asteroids, but we simply don’t see them as they are too small and too faint. Astronomer and animator Scott Manley has decided to create a 360 degree fully interactive video to help us to see exactly what space would look like if we could see all the asteroids we know of soaring across our skies at night.
The interactive video (shown below) allows viewers to look and pan around the night sky. Manley had this to say, “We’re essentially flying around the sun through this population of asteroids with our eyes closed.”
If only we all had powerful enough telescopes, we would be able to see a magnificent bevy of these space rocks as they soar through our night skies.
