In downtown Los Angeles, Jaden Smith has sparked quite a bit of attention as of late for his pop-up vegan food truck.

The truck is available to feed the homeless and a post on Instagram last week read:

“The I Love You Restaurant is a movement that is all about giving people what they deserve, healthy, vegan food for free. Today we launched our first one day food truck pop-up in downtown LA. Keep a look out because this is the first of many.”

The announcement came at the same time as his new album release: ERYS.

In a Rolling Stone interview, Smith explained the concept for the album, saying, “It’s pretty much the story of a young man named Erys. He lives in Los Angeles, but it’s in a world where Los Angeles has almost been destroyed a little bit. You don’t really know what happened, but it’s like a dystopic Los Angeles, but he cares so much more about the city and his homies and making sure he is the leader of the generation.”

This isn’t the first time either where Jaden has made good use of his wealth and celebrity status to assist in charitable causes.

He was earlier in the year involved in assisting Flint with their water crisis by donating a water filtration system and in just the last week, Smith participated in Shia LaBeouf’s charity fundraiser for his theatre school, Slauson Rec, which is a performing arts program  which is free and accessible to everyone.

May saw Smith investing in the $300 million Series e round of funding for Impossible Foods, a plant based company which became famous for it’s “Impossible Burger”.

With so many celebrities splurging on luxury homes, cars and jewelry, it’s refreshing to see those who give back in a big way making such an impact.

Take Keanu Reeves as a great example, funding a children’s hospital is no small feat.

Actor Chow Yun-fat who starred in the famous Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon also plans on donating his entire fortune to charity when he passes away.

Sam Simon, writer and producer of The Simpsons left his $100 million fortune to charity after he sadly lost his battle with cancer in 2015, something truly notable.
