Become the Master of Your Reality by Recording Your Dreams

Master Your Reality

Dreams have been studied by both physical and social scientists for centuries. While theories range from dreams being mundane filters from our daily lives to mysterious and helpful tools of the subconscious, there is a lot to work with to become the master of your reality by recording your dreams. Our current reality is governed by symbols. We see this in crafty commercials and well-placed advertisement logos. The power of symbols stems from their ability to speak to us at a subconscious level. If you’re dreaming about flying or losing teeth, there’s more to it than the surface layer that can provide key insights to the conflicts and resolutions faced during waking moments.

Get A Dream Journal

Dedicate your recordings to a specific journal with an inspiring cover. Having a unique space to write about the dreamscape helps prevent realities to mix up or cause confusion. It’s more about deeply connecting with the subconscious than it is about just writing a dream down.

Write Consistently

The space between dream life and waking reality is very thin. This is why we often forget the dreams we had once morning comes. Keeping a dream journal and writing in it every morning helps with memory retention and the details will come as you write. However, to become the master of your reality by recording your dreams you must practice writing consistently and upon waking up. The more you write, the more you remember and the more you’ll begin to notice repetitive symbols, locations, and themes.

Pro Tip: Write every morning for 5-10 minutes in as much detail as possible. What was the overall feeling? Were there any distinct smells? Is there a specific location you were visiting? Was the perspective POV or bird’s eye? Bring the story back to life as you record your dream.

Speak From the Present Tense

One way to bring the story back to life is by writing from the present tense. This also helps in getting yourself back into the dream and allow for the story to unfold without too much memory effort. Start where you are even when you feel your dreams are impossible, it’s important to speak as if what you are calling in is already here. This is true with any visualization or manifestation technique.

“Visualize your dream. Record it in the present tense. Put it into a permanent form. If you persist in your efforts You can achieve dream control” —Silent Lucidity by Queensrÿche

By recording your dreams from the present tense you can get down more than just the skeleton of the story but the muscles, nerves, and blood of it all.

Bring it to Life

Once you have the body down on paper, bring it to life. Add doodles and sketches to paint the scene. A technique to control your dreams has been verified for the first time and adding doodles or sketches to paint the scene can bring you into this space more easily. Whether you’re recalling a good dream or a nightmare, it is crucial to know it in and out. This is where the doorway opens to working with the deeper meaning of what it is you desire, traumas you are working through, etc…

Track the Symbols

Symbols

As I mentioned, symbols are a governing force in our reality. The symbols you encounter in your dream are personal to your perception. While there are helpful resources to provide clarity for the most common dream symbols you should pay attention to, it’s up to you to know what they truly mean. Is water showing up often? Track it along your journal entries to see how it is showing up. Become the master of your reality by recording your dreams and forming a relationship with the symbols you often experience. The symbols are your clue and your key.

You might notice your dreams become more vivid, memorable, and life-like as you journey through this exercise. The symbols you encounter in the dream world are a representation of the experiences you live out (or desire to live) in waking life. The dreamworld is your arena to practice through certain scenarios. The more you develop a relationship with your dreamscape, the more you are equipped to understand and play a larger role in some of the forces that create your waking reality
