Three weeks ago Jeff Bezos, the richest person in the world, announced a $98.5 million donation through his Bezos Day One Fund to 32 organizations in 23 states assisting homeless families. The gifts ranges from $1.25 million to $5 million.
At the launch of the Bezos Day One Fund in September 2018, Bezos pledged $2 billion to the fund which has two areas of focus: funding organizations who help homeless families and, creating Montessori inspired preschools across the country.
According to Forbes, Bezos filed a donation of 56,702 share of Amazon stock to non-profits (valued just short of $99 million), with the Securities Exchange Commission. An Amazon spokesman declined to comment on whether the shares were donated to Day One Fund recipients.
Should you be interested in helping homeless families, the Day 1 Academies Fund is currently hiring, according to their website where you’ll also find more information about the organization and its founder: bezosdayonefund.org/day1academiesfund
