When the rich and famous reveal their compassionate selves and go all out help those in need, we love them even more. Actor, musician and ultimate nice guy, Gary Sinise ticks all the boxes. Sinise acted in classics like Forest Gump, The Green Mile and Apollo 13, and is known for his dedication to helping others.

Sinise works hard to honor and help US military veterans and created the Gary Sinise Foundation to serve the needs of veterans, defenders, first responders, their families and communities.

“While we can never do enough to show gratitude to our nation’s defenders, we can always do a little more,” Sinise said.

One of the foundation’s programs is called the “Snowball Express,” launched in 2017 with the goal of honoring fallen US soldiers. The program arranges a free trip for their children to visit and experience the magic of Disney world.

More than 1,750 kids were flown to Orlando for a five-night trip where they had the time of their lives.

At an event where their fallen family members were honoured, the children and their surviving parents received “we remember” pins.

600 flags, representing each loved one lost in combat, were lined up at the ceremony.

“The most important thing about is that these children don’t feel alone. There’s a lot of healing and a lot of bonding and a lot of friendship that goes on that helps them through the rest of the year,” Sinise told CBS Los Angeles.
