7 Habits That Will Help You Find Strength During Tough Times

There are many instances in life when we feel disconnected with our inner strength. An unexpected event, a loss of a friend or a loved one or even not meeting simple expectations.

Life isn’t easy and we all go through tough times – let’s face it, what is life without the hurdles?

We know we have to get ourselves back on our feet and sometimes we don’t know where to turn or who to look up to – it seems impossible to find our inner strength to keep us going.

Below are the seven tips I use to bring myself back up during hard times.

1) It’s OK to not feel OK

A lot of inspirational tips will tell us to not be sad, move on and focus on positivity.

But sometimes it’s totally OK to not feel great. It’s OK to have those down times and it’s OK to have negative thoughts.

It won’t be the best time, but sometimes we can just be sad. Don’t be afraid to fall apart, because an opportunity will make itself apparent for you to rebuild.

2) Focus on Today

No matter what long term goals you have and what plans you have for the future, or even what memories you have and what regrets you wish you could go back to and fix, today is here and today is waiting.

Be right here, focus on today, and you will feel like your mind is less convoluted.

3) A tiny step will go a long way

One small change in your daily routine can amount to big changes in your life. Whether it be to start meditating for 10 minutes each morning, or limiting time watching TV.

These small steps can direct you in a better, happier life. Make small changes to improve your life rather than big ones.

4) Remind yourself that few things in life are as personal as they seem

When someone takes their anger out on you or snaps a distasteful comment, remember that it might not be personal but maybe something that person is dealing with. Often, people who hurt you are hurt themselves. Not everyone will be nice and that’s ok, we are only human.

5) Create a healthy space

If you feel some negativity surrounding you, make sure to have an escape room. Create a healthy space for you to eliminate these negative thoughts. Find positivity within this negative space and try to flush the negative talk out.

6) Make sure you’re turning in the right direction

Follow the people that make you happy and bring positivity into your life. Don’t get stuck in situations where you aren’t sure why you’re there. Go in the direction that will help you with your life.

7) Choose an attitude that will move yourself forward

It’s all up to you how you deal with situations. Having the right attitude will move you forward quickly, whereas having a sour one will keep you lingering in sticky situations. Make a change in your attitude and you will find it a lot easier to give your mind some fresh air.
