A revolutionary theory states that the human soul is more than just ‘interactions’ of neurons in our brain and could have been present since the beginning of time. Furthermore, in understandable terms, the soul does not die but returns to the universe.
American physician, Dr. Stuart Hamerroff and the British physicist Sir Roger Penrose have developed a quantum theory of consciousness, which states that our souls are contained within structures called microtubules within our brain cells.
The idea was developed due to the concept that the brain is a biological computer, with 100 billion neurons, whose synaptic connections act as information networks.
Dr. Hameroff, professor emeritus in the Department of Anesthesiology and Psychology and Director of the Center for Consciousness Studies at the University of Arizona, and Sir Roger have been working on the theory since 1996.
They argue that our conscious experiences are the result of the effects of quantum gravity on the microtubules, a process they call objective orchestrated reduction (Orch-OR).
In a near-death experience, microtubules lose their quantum state, but the information inside them is not destroyed. Or in understandable terms, the soul does not die but returns to the universe.
Dr. Hameroff explained the theory extensively in a documentary narrated by Morgan Freeman, called “Through the Wormhole,” which was recently broadcast on the Science Channel.
“Let’s say the heart stops beating, the blood stops flowing, the microtubules lose their quantum state. The quantum information within the microtubules is not destroyed, it can’t be destroyed, it just distributes and dissipates to the universe at large.
“If the patient is resuscitated, revived, this quantum information can go back into the microtubules and the patient says, ‘I had a near death experience.’
“If they’re not revived, and the patient dies, it’s possible that this quantum information can exist outside the body, perhaps indefinitely, as a soul.”
Dr. Hameroff believes that new ideas about the role of quantum physics in biological processes such as bird navigation help confirm the theory.
According to this revolutionary theory, the human soul is more than just ‘interactions’ of neurons in our brain and could have been present since the beginning of time.
