The CIA has been widely criticised in the US Senate Intelligence Committee report on its interrogation techniques employed in the post 9/11 period. The program was signed off by then President George W Bush but he did not seem to know the full details of what torture took place. Even CIA officials kept the government agencies in the dark about the methods they used and whether they got them the necessary information needed to stop would-be terrorists. This report highlights how much of what was uncovered from prisoners around the world between 2002 and 2007 was not reliable.
Ashley Fudge takes a look at the report which is 525 pages long. It could have been more than 6,000 pages but a lot is still classified.
So you’ll learn some things here but not everything that’s been going on in so-called ‘black sites’.
